When will the war in Iraq end?

The war drags on in a stalemate while many die on both sides. Why and how in this day of age?

Politicians still do the dance and proclaim they always have a plan for an "honorable" end to this war. Nothing more than the political game they play on any issue;healthcare, crime, taxes, etc.

With this issue though, lives are lost on a daily basis. This is not including the thousands injured and scarred for life.

Saddam Hussein was certainly a tyrant, mass murderer, and basically a thug that had to go. Now we are stuck in a situation with no easy answers. Leaving too early, the country of Iraq will most likely end up in a civil war. Stay, and more and more insurgents migrate to the area for the great Jihad against America.

No easy answers, but staying there will just add to the body count.

The presidental race is already being talked about heavily and it's nearly two years away.

The main buzz being Hilary Clinton. Although I am not a fan of the Clinton's, at this point almost anything looks better than George W. Bush. Can any other president in history be more stubborn, arrogant, and out of touch with reality that Mr. Bush.

The war in Iraq continues without any noticeable progress, the deficit continues to climb, and jobs continue to be lost to overseas competition. Damn, Bush, maybe worry about the Chinese a little more.

Do you know where Schuylkill County, PA is?

What the hell or is Schuykill County?

I am glad you asked. Schuylkill County or Skook County as some refer to it is located nearly 30 miles north of Reading, Pa. Another way to look at it is Schuylkill County is located about 2 hours north of Philadelphia, Pa.

What is Skook County like?

Well, for the most part it is quiet. The traffic is not bad and major crime is not a problem(yet!). The area has a fondness for drinking and the Yuengling Brewery is a tourist attraction. It may also be mentioned that the area has a high rate of alcohol consumption and alcoholism. Drug use is also high and a lot of crimes are related to both.

What jobs are available there?

Mostly low paying and unskilled labor. It seems most talented people leave the area after high school or college. Work can be found in steel/aluminum mills, factories, and service related jobs. Technical and skilled jobs are not that easily available. A common census is that only 4% of the population has a post high school degree.

So, what is there to do?

As a Skook I can tell you - not much. It's common for most of us here to drink Yuengling beer, drive around in the coal dirt, and get beer muscles and act stupid.

Till next time, your Skook friend
